Version 26.6 for Windows current

Dialogs on high-resolution screens. With display scaling set to 200% or more, every dialog now lays itself out for that screen instead of for a 100% one.

Dialogs that follow the screen

  • Document Setup, New Document and Options follow the scale of the monitor: fields, labels and buttons keep their proportions, nothing overlaps and nothing is cut off
  • Transform (Move, Scale, Rotate, Reflect, Shear, Transform Each), Rasterize, Image Trace, Guides and Send Feedback use the right text size on a high-resolution screen
  • At 100% scaling nothing changes

Note

  • Delivered to 26.3, 26.4 and 26.5 users by the in-app updater: Help › Check for Updates… or the check at launch offers Install and Relaunch
  • Copies of 26.1 and 26.2 have no update key and cannot update themselves: download 26.6 once, and every later version arrives on its own

Version 26.5 for Windows

Pen and ink. A pen tablet or a pen display now drives the drawing tools with pressure, and the shell tells the pen apart from the hand that holds it.

Pen and ink

  • Pressure on the Pencil: the stroke swells and thins with the hand, and is saved as an outlined path that any SVG editor can open
  • Pressure on the Brush and the Spray: the brush stamps follow the pen, the spray thickens under it
  • Pen eraser: turn the pen over and the eraser end erases, then the tool you had comes back
  • Palm rejection: the palm resting on the screen is ignored while the pen is down
  • A stroke at full pressure is identical to the mouse stroke, byte for byte — the parity gates hold with the pen as with the mouse

Note

  • Delivered to 26.3 and 26.4 users by the in-app updater: Help › Check for Updates… or the check at launch offers Install and Relaunch
  • Copies of 26.1 and 26.2 have no update key and cannot update themselves: download 26.5 once, and every later version arrives on its own

Version 26.4 for Windows

The first version delivered by the in-app updater. There are no functional changes: 26.4 is 26.3 with a new version number, signed and packaged by the same release pipeline, published to prove that a copy of 26.3 updates itself end to end — check, download, signature verification, install, relaunch.

Note

  • If you run 26.3, this version arrives on its own: Help › Check for Updates… or the check at launch offers Install and Relaunch
  • Copies of 26.1 and 26.2 have no update key and cannot update themselves: download 26.4 once, and every later version arrives on its own
Windows · direct download · build 894 · 2 September 2026

Version 26.3 for Windows

The first signed build. The executable carries an Azure Trusted Signing certificate issued to Rainbowfactory Ltd, so Windows and SmartScreen open it without a warning, and the package is signed for the updater, which now installs new versions by itself.

New

  • Code signing: svgeditor.exe is signed and timestamped; no more “Windows protected your PC”
  • Updates install themselves: the application checks the update feed at every launch, downloads the signed package, verifies its signature, and offers Install and Relaunch; nothing unsigned is ever installed
  • Automatic checking is on by default and can be switched off in Edit › Options › General

Note

  • Copies of 26.1 and 26.2 have no update key and cannot update themselves: download 26.3 once, and every later version arrives on its own
Windows · direct download · build 893 · 2 September 2026

Version 26.2 for Windows

The second Windows build, one day after the first, closes most of the shell that was still missing: the application now talks back, updates itself and can be driven from outside. Still an unsigned x64 .zip — unzip and run svgeditor.exe.

New

  • AI Console (Window › AI Console, F7, or the ✨ button on the canvas): editable vectors from a description, through the Vector Designer server or with your own Claude, OpenAI or Gemini key, in which case it works as an agent with 26 drawing tools
  • The application is an MCP server: svgeditor.exe --mcp-stdio exposes the 48 drawing tools to Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex and VS Code; the configuration to paste is in Edit › Options › MCP Server, and --do-script runs a script on the open document
  • Feedback: the Feedback palette (Ctrl+Alt+F) and the 💬 button on the canvas, Help › Send Feedback…, and the crash of a previous launch reported on the next one
  • Edit › Options…: General, AI, MCP Server and Debug, the Mac settings item for item
  • Help › Check for Updates… against the Windows update feed, with an optional daily check
  • Help › Vector Designer Help (F1), Edit › Keyboard Shortcuts… with a search box, Help › Credits, and an Errors window that collects errors instead of stopping you with modal boxes
  • Dark theme: title bar, menu bar, dialogs and palettes follow the system setting without a restart
  • File › Open Recent, File › Open Sample, Window › Reset Palettes…, Minimize, Zoom and Bring All to Front; dropping an image on the canvas places it
  • Export TIFF with layers (one per object, one per layer, or flattened); layered PSD and TIFF files open with their layers; the PDF page picker shows a thumbnail of every page
  • Place TIFF and HEIC; the guides dialog on a double-click of a guide; copy and paste of vectors and images with other applications

Not yet

  • Type on Path and the Text Pencil; PostScript and EPS import; the print panel with preview and scale; one window per document; code signing

Version 26.1 for Windows

The first Windows build of Vector Designer: a native C++ application with no web runtime and no .NET, sharing the engine of the Mac app. Unsigned x64 .zip — unzip and run svgeditor.exe. ARM64 and code signing are next, and feature parity with the Mac app is still in progress. Windows page and download.

What is in it

  • Twenty floating palettes, drawn in Skia to match the Mac originals: Tools, Control, Color, Swatches, Stroke, Gradient, Transparency, Align, Pathfinder, Layers, Links, Info, Navigator, Character, Paragraph, Scripts, Symbols, Brushes, Pattern and Spray
  • Tools: Selection and Direct Selection, Pen with Add/Delete/Convert Anchor, Free Hand, line, rectangle, rounded rectangle, ellipse, polygon and star, Text with Area Type and Type on a Path, Spray, Eraser, Scissors, Eyedropper, Measure, Rotate, Scale, Reflect, Shear, Hand and Zoom
  • Documents and dialogs: File ▸ New and Document Setup byte-for-byte with the Mac, the Object ▸ Transform dialogs (Move, Rotate, Scale, Reflect, Shear) with live preview and Copy, Transform Again, Transform Each, Rasterize and Select ▸ Same
  • Sixteen filter and effect dialogs, with Last Filter remembering the previous one
  • Colour and artwork: Swatches with the two Mac libraries, .ASE import and live global retint, linear, radial and mesh gradients, pattern fills, custom brushes, and the Symbols palette with the 272 glyphs of the Mac shape library
  • Files: open .ai and PDF as editable vectors through the same pdf.js engine as the Mac app running on QuickJS, place images with the Links palette, run .jsx scripts from the Scripts palette, export to PNG, TIFF and PDF, and print
  • View: rulers, grid and guides, display performance modes, Hide Edges, the Mac splash and About, and crash reporting
